1. National Museum Beijing
The National Museum of China is located on the east side of Tian’an Men Square in Beijing. It is the largest comprehensive history museum in China. Through display of both material and non-material collections and exhibits, it narrates the history created by the ancestors of the Chinese people.

2. Sanxingdui Museum
Sanxingdui Museum is located in Northeast of Sanxingdu archeological site, west of the famous cultural city of Guanghan, on the bank of Jian River (commonly called Yazi River), 40 kilometers (about 24.9 miles) north of Chengdu City. Covering an exhibition area of 4,000 square meters (about 1544.4 square miles), and opened in October 1997 this is an archeological museum with excellent modern facilities.

3. Shanghai Museum
The scope, depth and quality of its collections, and the striking architecture and use of modern technology make the Shanghai Museum one of the most famous if not the most famous in China. It covers an area of 38,000 square meters, with a scale that surpasses the old museum severalfold. The exterior of the museum utilizes the shape of an ancient bronze ding, specifically a Chen ding, with its rather archaic flavor. The structure and materials of the entire building, however, are an accomplishment of the most modern technology.

4. Taipei Palace Museum
The National Palace Museum is an art gallery and museum in Taipei City, Taiwan, Republic of China containing artifacts of ancient China. It should not be confused with the Palace Museum (note the absence of the word “National”), which is the Forbidden City in Beijing. Both institutions derive from the same original institution, which was split in two as a result of the Chinese Civil War. The National Palace Museum in Taipei holds one of the largest collection of Chinese artifacts and artwork in the world.

5. Henan Museum
The Henan Museum is one of China’s oldest museums. It is a ‘key’ museum, ith modern displays and exhibitions, modernized equipment, and a unique architecture. In 1961, along with the move of the provincial capital to Zhengzhou, it moved to its current location. In 1991 that museum was remodeled and in 1999 the official reopening was held, when the name was officially declared the Henan Museum.The new Henan Museum is set in the central section of Nongye Road in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. It covers an area of more than 100,000 square meters, with a building area of 78,000 square meters.

6. Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region Museum
The Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region Museum was established in the spring of 1953 in the Peoples Park in Urumqi City. A new museum was later built in 1962 at a new site on Xibei Road. The building occupies a space of 11,000 square meters and is built in a modern style enhanced by local architectural features.

7. Tibet Museum
Tibet Museum is the first large-sized comprehensive modern museum in the Tibet Autonomous Region; it is a brilliant literary and arts palace of the Tibetan people, a gem of Tibetan civilization and a treasure house of Tibetan cultural relics.

8. Qin Shi Huang Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum
A remarkable sight appeared in 1974, near the ancient capital of Xi’an. Some farmers happened to dig up what turned out to be a large-scale pit with terracotta soldiers and horses, belonging to the Emperor Qin Shi Huang, or the Founding Emperor of the Qin. After 2,200 years, the Emperor’s tremendous army stood as though living again before people’s eyes.

9. Yunnan Provincial Museum
The Yunnan Provincial Museum is a regional museum, containing around 50,000 objects in its collections. Among these, historical objects account for around 30,000 items of which there are 7,000 bronzes, revolutionary items (7,200), ethnic minorities cultural objects (7,000), handicrafts (4,000). The Museum represents the local minority people in particular, and features arts from the Dali Kingdom as well as other periods of Yunnan history.

10. Palace Museum – Forbidden City in Beijing
The Palace Museum is situated in the center of Beijing, the capital city of China. It was established on October 10, 1925, and is China’s largest museum.

11. Nanjing Museum
The Nanjing Museum is located inside the Zhongshan Gate of Nanjing City. lts predecessor was known as the Central Museum Preparatory Location. The complex of buildings represents an amalgamation of east and west, with the great hall copying the style of a Liao-dynasty palace.
12. Shaanxi History Museum
The Shaanxi History Museum is situated on Yan Ta Road in Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province. It covers 65,000 square meters, with a building area of 60,000 square meters. The newly built modern building recreates Tang-dynasty architecture and successfully symbolizes the great extent of Shaanxi history and its remarkable culture.
13. Cultural Palace of Minorities Beijing
The Cultural Palace of Minorities is located on the west end of Chang’an Street, in Beijing. This is a focal point where all the nationalities of the country can come together for cultural exchange: it is a microcosm of the greater family of diverse peoples that make up China. The building occupies some 30,000 square meters and is a multistoried tower-like structure. It stands 13 stories high and has two wings that flank the central hall.
14. Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Museum
This museum was founded on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, in 1957. The building, expressive of local minority characteristics, is located at the intersection of Xinhua Dajie and Zhongshan Lu in the heart of Hohhot City, the capital of the autonomous region.
15. Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Museum
The Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Museum is in the capital of the region, l Yinchuan city, in the old city district. It is located in the grounds of the Chengtian Temple and uses the main building of the temple as its central hall. This was built in traditional manner in 1988 on the foundations of a Qing dynasty building; the rest of the buildings are auxiliary halls also built around 1988. Behind these ‘front-court’ buildings is a courtyard-style building built in the Qing dynasty.

16. Hanzhong, more than its cultural relics
There are many historical attractions dotted across the city, and the Hanzhong Museum which was set up in 1958 is one of them. Located in Hantai which was built on the site of the ancient palace of the first Han Emperor, Han Gaozu, the Hanzhong Museum is a beautiful site and houses many cultural treasures.

19. Liaoning Provincial Museum
The Liaoning Provincial Museum is located in Heping District of Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. The area of the Museum grounds and buildings totals 110,000 square meters. The heart of the Museum is a three-story exhibition hall that was designed by a German architect. In 1988, a new three-story white building was built inside the grounds that includes a large hall and a surrounding corridor.

20. Shenyang Palace Museum
The Shenyang Imperial Palace Museum is located at Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. It was founded in 1926 and originally named the Museum of Three Eastern Provinces of China. When Shenyang was in the control of the Japanese aggressors in the 1930s, the name of the museum was changed into Fengtian Palace Museum. On August 5, 1986, it was finally settled down as the Shenyang Imperial Palace Museum.
