Qinghai or Tibet railway connects Xining, Qinghai province to Lhasa. The Qinghai railway’s total length is 1956 km. This railway track includes the Tanggula pass, which at 5,072 meters above sea level, is the world’s highest rail track. There are forty-four railway stations and 675 bridges on this track. Classic…None of its kind..right?
“Highest” is dubious, at best. The track is no higher off the ground than any other track.
There’s got to be a way to say that it’s merely at the highest elevation relative to sea-level, but this isn’t it. I was expecting to see something that was built several hundred (or thousand) feet up in the air.
